Great news from Tanzania.
The Meserani School was recognised on World Forest Day as a great example of involving pupils with conservation projects.
Meserani Secondary School, Tanzania, was recognised on World Forest Day for the transformation of the school environment – 800 trees have so far been planted, a finger euphorbia perimeter fence has been planted around the 25 acre site, and a one-acre vegetable plot has been fully established. All these achievements have been funded by The Meserani Project, a U.K. registered charity that has been receiving ongoing support from Erimus Rotary since 2011. Many of the 800 trees that have been planted at the school have been funded by individual members of the club.
The presentation on 24 March was attended by government officials and local dignitaries, and the school was presented with a further 1,000 trees.
The Meserani Project have expressed their thanks to Erimus Rotary members who have donated funds for the trees.
